Western Wonder Recipes: #3. Fried Garlic Chicken with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich


Ingredients
  • For Chicken
    • 300 g. Chicken fillet
    • 3 cloves of minced garlic 
    • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce (or salt)  
    • 2 tablespoons of milk 
    • 2 tablespoons of Cooking oil
  • For Sandwich
    • 2 slices of French bread 
    • 10 g. Butter 
    • 2 slices Gouda cheese (you can also use other types of cheese i.e Edam, Cheddar, Swiss cheese)

How to cook

  • Fried Garlic Chicken 
    • Season the chicken with minced garlic, 2 tbsp of fish sauce and 2 tbsp of milk.
    • Mix well and set aside.
 
 
    • Heat  2 tbsp of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium  heat.  
    • Place the chicken into the hot oil.
 

    • Turning every 1 – 2 minutes to ensure that both sides are golden brown. 
    • Do not use high heat setting as the outer part will burn while leaving the inside uncooked.
 
    • Cook until heated through. Turn-off the heat and set aside.

  • Grilled Cheese Sandwich
    • Spread the butter evenly over one face of each slice of bread.
 
    •  Turn bread around. Add the cheese between the two slices of bread.
  
    • Put 2 slices of cheese on top of bread. Fold the bread down.
 
    • Place the bread on grill, buttered side down until golden brown. (Grill only the buttered side)
 
    • Flip over and brown the other side as well.  
 
    • Transfer to a serving plate with Fried Garlic Chicken and...

 Serve immediately!

Easy Asian Recipes: #4.Thai Spicy Fried Egg Salad




For the Veggie Lovers!

(Total Cooking Time: Approx. 30 Minutes)




Ingredients
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 100g cooked ground pork
  • 50g finely chopped parsley or spring onion (optional)
  • 1 onion (Cut into thin slices)
  • 2 medium size tomatoes (Cut into thin slices)
  • 1 cucumber, peeled and sliced lengthwise into ¼-inch-wide strips
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped red chilies
  • 1 teaspoon of brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 5 lettuce leaves
  • ½ cup of vegetable oil

How to cook

  • Heat up ½ cup of vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  • Gently crack eggs into the hot oil.
  • Wait until the bottoms of eggs are golden brown and starting to get crispy.
  • Flip the eggs over to crisp up the tops (this makes it easier to slice).
  • Place the fried eggs on a chopping board, and cut them into 1 inch square pieces.
  • Mix the chilies, brown sugar, fish sauce, lime juice in a mixing bowl. Taste the dressing.and adjust the flavors as necessary.
  • Add fried eggs, cooked ground pork, onion, tomato, sliced cucumber in a mixing bowl, and mix all ingredients well.
  • Put the fried egg salad together by placing the lettuce leaves on a plate.
  • Decorate the top with parsley leaves.

Best served right away!

East Meets West Recipes: # 1. Fried Ham & Cheese Wontons

Crispy & Delicious Snack! 


Ingredients of Fried Ham & Cheese Wontons

  • 8 wonton wrappers 
  • 2 cheddar cheese slices 
  • 2 sheets of ham 
  • 1 egg yolk shredded cabbage (optional) 
  • cooking oil for frying 
  • sweet plum sauce or mayonnaise 


How to Cook Fried Ham & Cheese Wontons

  • Cut ham and cheddar cheese slices into 4 triangles. Note: Shredded cabbage can be added as optional ingredient to increase nutrients)


  • Place ham and cheese sliced in the middle of the wonton wrapper.

  • Fold over the wonton wrapper. Use your finger to spread egg yolk around the edges of the wonton wrapper as glue to make it stick together in a triangular shape. This is to make sure that the filling will not come out when frying.



  • Fry at medium heat until golden brown on both sides.

  • Drain the oil.
  • Serve with sweet plum sauce or mayonnaise. Ready to eat!
