Western Wonder Recipes: #4. Ham & Egg & Melted Cheese Croissant Sandwich


The perfect combination of a warm, buttery croissant with fried egg, ham and delicious melted cheese can be a lovely breakfast, light lunch or afternoon snack.

Ingredients
  • 1 Freshly baked butter croissant
  • 3 tablespoons Softened butter
  • 2 slices Cheddar cheese
  • 1 slice Smoked ham
  • 1 egg
  • Pinch of salt
How to cook
  • Slice the croissant in half horizontally.
 
  • Spread 2 tbsp butter over both sides. 
 
  • Heat a pan over medium heat. 
  • Add the croissant, butter side down until golden.
  • Flip the croissant and set aside.
 

  • Add 1 tbsp butter to the pan over medium heat and let it melt. 
  • Add the egg.
 


  •  Flip the egg over, let the yolk cooked through. And set aside.
 


  • Add the smoked ham and sauté until lightly browned. Set aside.

 

  • Place a fried egg on top of the croissant. Add a pinch of salt to the fried egg.
  • Place the cheese slice over fried egg.
  • Place the smoked ham over cheese.



  • Fold the croissant down. Garnished with the other slice of cheese, roll and place on top.


Serve immediately while it is still warm and melts-in-your-mouth!

Western Wonder Recipes: #3. Fried Garlic Chicken with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich


Ingredients
  • For Chicken
    • 300 g. Chicken fillet
    • 3 cloves of minced garlic 
    • 2 tablespoons of fish sauce (or salt)  
    • 2 tablespoons of milk 
    • 2 tablespoons of Cooking oil
  • For Sandwich
    • 2 slices of French bread 
    • 10 g. Butter 
    • 2 slices Gouda cheese (you can also use other types of cheese i.e Edam, Cheddar, Swiss cheese)

How to cook

  • Fried Garlic Chicken 
    • Season the chicken with minced garlic, 2 tbsp of fish sauce and 2 tbsp of milk.
    • Mix well and set aside.
 
 
    • Heat  2 tbsp of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium  heat.  
    • Place the chicken into the hot oil.
 

    • Turning every 1 – 2 minutes to ensure that both sides are golden brown. 
    • Do not use high heat setting as the outer part will burn while leaving the inside uncooked.
 
    • Cook until heated through. Turn-off the heat and set aside.

  • Grilled Cheese Sandwich
    • Spread the butter evenly over one face of each slice of bread.
 
    •  Turn bread around. Add the cheese between the two slices of bread.
  
    • Put 2 slices of cheese on top of bread. Fold the bread down.
 
    • Place the bread on grill, buttered side down until golden brown. (Grill only the buttered side)
 
    • Flip over and brown the other side as well.  
 
    • Transfer to a serving plate with Fried Garlic Chicken and...

 Serve immediately!

Western Wonder Recipes: #2. Stuffed Pork Fillet with Apple and Cheese

 

 Ingredients
  • 1 pork fillet
  • 1/4 red apple, peeled, cored and diced  (Amount of apple is adjustable, depending on the size of your pork fillet)
  • 2 slices cheese (i.e. Cheddar, Gruyere, Edam, Gouda)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Cooking oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional side dish: Freshly baked cheese croissant and mayonnaise.
How to cook

  • Cut the pork fillet length-ways, Cutting nearly to the opposite side but not all the way through. Open it so it forms two flaps, attached at the center.

  
  • Sprinkle both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Stuff pork fillet with the diced apple and cheese.


  
  • Use toothpicks to close opening.
  
  • Coat with flour, dip in egg and roll in the bread crumbs.
   
  


  • Heat 1/2-inch of cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-low heat.



  • Add pork and fry for 10 minutes, turning frequently until cooked through and golden browned on all sides. Drain well.

  

 


  • Remove toothpicks before serving.  


Best served with freshly baked cheese croissant and mayonnaise!
